Parish President Wanted

Lafourche Parish will elect a Parish President in less than a year. Hopefully, and likely, it will be someone other than Charlotte Angellette Randolph. At very least, Charlotte Randolph's administration has been a hallmark of incompetence and self-service. Whether any of these people go to jail depends on whether the Federal government can be made interested in investigating their various scandals and prosecuting their crimes. It should be quite evident by now that neither the Lafourche Parish Sheriff nor DA is interested in fulfilling their duties in relation to any activity of the Randolph regime.

So, who will replace Charlotte Randolph? First of all, it should be a person who has had experience in parish or state government or administration of a sizeable institution or business. Also, it should be a person who has successfully handled any amount of money. Further, the person should have a spouse with something to do other than interfering with his spouse's public duty and trying to profit from it. Whether the person is fun at parties, if Charlotte is representive, should be a disqualifiing factor - having some smarts is more valuable. It would also help if the person didn't really need the job. Probably most important, and likely impossible, is that the person must be able to transcend the regional favoritism which has historically reigned in Lafourche politics. In other words, the person must be able to deal with the 10th Ward fairly and not simply as the cash cow that doesn't need much feeding.

For any of you thinking about running, I am available to consult on this election. But, I ain't cheap. A candidate in the recent Greater Lafourche Port Commission election spent around $100,000 on the race, including $4,000 paid to a company to "manage" the candidate's campaign, and lost. So, it's safe to say my fee will be alot more than $4,000.

In any event, LET'S GIT DA PARTY STARTED!

TONIGHT HISTORY WAS MADE
HER ATTEMPT TO VETO THE CULVERT ISSUE FOR THE THIRD TIME WAS A 7-2 VOTE TO OVERIDE HER VETO.SHE HAS LOST A GOOD 70% of COUNCIL SUPPORT.
MR.NO-GO WAS A NO VOTE ALONG WITH MR.BAYOU BLUE.

I can't believe the council has finally wised up or at least 7 of them(remember 2007 is an election year).Remember every dog has their day and the mighty will fall.I also heard she is running for RE-ELECTION(lol)????There is also from what I heard on the streets that 5 are running for the PREZ office(that's not including Char)and possibly an official holding a office in South Lafourche will run to make it 6 or 7 for that office.MORE TO COME....should be veeerrrryyy interesting next year!!

Carl this is going to be a bit long and I’m sorry but this is good information. I just herd something and I was wondering if you could clear this up and maybe make light of it. I herd that the Atty. General's office is an investigative office only. After they finish an investigation they could present the information to the local DA's office and the DA could do one of three things: (1) Turn it over to the AG's Office for them to prosecute, (2) The DA could try the case themselves, or (3) Decline to prosecute the case all together. So if we do get the AG to look into Mrs. Randolph and the AG thinks she is up to something as long as the DA doesn’t turn over the case there is nothing that could be done about it. Even worse if the DA tries it and botches it on purpose then she can't be tried again due to the double jeopardy law. Is all of this correct? If so what is the point of contacting the AG if the DA will not try the case and will never turn it over?

Puzzled,

Basically, you are right as far as the functions and interactions of the AG and the DA offices. However, aren't you being a little cynical when it comes to what the DA will do? As I have preached here from the outset, HAVE FAITH IN THE SYSTEM. Damn, and I thought I was cynical. It appears that Cam has, sort of, removed his head from the sand. AG's involvement would be helpful. That office has the investigative resources the DA's office does not. But the question remains, as in all questions concerning the Randolph Administration, is the political will there. That is the question that Cam has not answered yet, and why the AG's office has not brought its resources to bare. Cam is still like Hamlet - will he or won't he do the right thing, and if so, to what extent? You see, Cam was not bargaining for Charlotte Randolph being this incompetent. He was hoping to simply give advice to the Council and prosecute criminals. He was not bargaining for having to prosecute the Council Administration for widespread criminal activity. There's his dilemna.

And as I have said ad nauseum - THE FEDS MUST GET INVOLVED. Call Melancon, Jindal, Landrieu and Vitter's offices. Ask them why FEMA is authorizing the payments for these bags, not only in Lafourche but also in St. Charles and Plaquemines Parishes. It's alot worse there - $20 and $30 million worse.

But will anything be investigated...enough stuff has come out that would warrent an investigation on anyone not to mention a public offical entrusted with OUR tax monies....but it dissapears like the Saints offence in the second half.DO YOU THINK ANYTHING WILL HAPPEN BEFORE SHE LOSES HER RE-ELECTION BID????EVEN A SLIGHT HINT FROM ANYONE OF AN INVESTIGATION WILL BE ENCOURGEING.

As Chauvin said,"the FEDS must get involved".
Public protest to higher officials(as Chauvin also said)is necessary.

And,the BEST investigation is one that nobody has a hint that it is going on!!!!!!!!
STOP THE MADNESS!!!!!!!CALL YOUR SENATORS AND REPRESENTATIVES!!!!
THIS MISADMINISTRATION CANNOT CONTINUE IT'S "ABOVE THE LAW" TACTICS!!!
