No money for Court AC?
An interesting item appears in the agenda for Tuesday's meeting. Councilman Mark Atzenhoffer has a proposed Ordinance for a supplemental appropriation. Seems as though there is not enough money in the capital projects funds of the budget to pay the $100,000 it will take to replace the chiller for the Courthouse Annex air conditioning unit. (We reported the failure of the unit on June 22 in the article "Nero Fiddles While Rome Burns!" A large, noisy portable unit has been servicing the building since. I wonder what the rent is on that big sucka.) So, the administration wants the Council to use $100K from the general fund in order to pay for the repairs.
Hell, why doesn't Charlotte just declare an emergency in the Court system in Lafourche and just add it to the Civil Defense fund? After all, don't five angry Judges glaring menacingly at you constitute an emergency? (All it takes is one for me.) If the risk of storms developing in the Caribbean and the Gulf after Rita was enough to justify $175K a day for the period after Rita, certainly this could be too. Is this evidence that cows are even more important than Judges in Lafourche Parish? I rest my case, Your Honor.

What would happen if a$100,000.00 repair was needed at,say, The Edgar Guidry pump station? Would it get done? Would all 9 council members ever know?
In famous words: Not to get off on a Rant but why is it that we have money for things we don’t need. I understand that CPD were used but why not sand bags? I understand the CPD were quick and easy but don’t you think if my house was in danger I would be at the levee along with other citizens in my neighborhood sandbagging like hell to keep my home for getting flooded.
Why is it that we have money to take a useless survey when we all know that if Mrs. Randolph would talk to her people she would know what’s going on. Is it that she’s so far up her own tree that she can’t see her roots? Another question is now that she knows what’s going on is she going to be MAN enough to do something about he friends that she has in powerful positions and do something with them? I was in the Army for 6 years and even the most skilled combat leaders spoke with the lowest man on the totem pole and listened. Mrs. Randolph are you listening to what they are saying or just listening?
You have been entrusted with our property, monies, and most of all trust. I think like Carl said earlier we can take an admission from you letting us all know that “You messed up”. Hell if you did that I’d believe you deserved another chance because it would show me that you are MAN enough to admit that you were wrong and human. The lies and cover ups is what is getting to everyone not the mistakes. Be a MAN and admit that you were and are wrong. We as a people might forgive you once.
Remember Star Services? Air conditioning for the judges may not be an issue today if not for the erroneous ruling of Judge LeBlanc and public defiance by Gerald "BUZZ" Breaux, Phillip Gouaux, Lindell Toups and others.
